What this register is

There is a rule about fridges that almost nobody is told. Under the Pressure Equipment Regulations, work on the refrigerant circuit of a refrigeration or air conditioning system is meant to be done by a gas practitioner registered with SAQCC Gas, the body the Department of Employment and Labour approved to register them. It is worth knowing before you agree to a regas, because that is the job where it applies and it is the one most often done by whoever was available. Everything else an appliance breaks - a washing machine bearing, an oven element, a dishwasher pump, a door seal - has no register behind it at all, and this list says nothing about who should do those.
